ABOUT US
Office of the Commissioner of GST and Central Excise, Chennai South. GST and Central Excise, South Commissionerate, with its reorganized jurisdiction, came into existence with effect from 01.07.2027 under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
This Commissionerate administers the GST and Central Excise Acts in the district of Chennai, Tamilnadu. It is part of Chennai GST and Central Excise Zone which administers GST and Central Excise Acts in Tamilnadu state. The Commissionerate is headed by the Commissioner of GST and Central Excise for administrative convenience. The Commissionerate has eleven divisions which are headed by Assistant Commissioner/Deputy Commissioners and these divisions have fifty-five ranges which are headed by Superintendents. Areas comprising of Chennai Corporation Zones Nos. X to XV (From Ward No. 127 to 200 in existence as of 01-04-2017) and St. Thomas Mount Cantonment Board in the state of Tamil Nadu.
