Shri Ashish Varma, I.R.S., Principal Chief Commissioner of Central GST and Central Excise of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Zone is 1989-batch Officer of the Indian Revenue Service.

He has done his Masters’ in Public Policy from National University of Singapore and was the gold medalist.

He has served at Valsad, Vadodara, Surat, Mumbai, Lucknow, Aurangabad, and Pune in various capacities in various formations of Customs & Central Excise.

He has played a significant role at the Central Bureau of Narcotics at Lucknow.

As Principal Additional Director General, has headed the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics at Mumbai.

As Chief Commissioner, has led the Meerut GST and Central Excise Zone.

Has also had distinguished tenures with the Directorate General of Revenue Intelligence at Lucknow and Ahmedabad and the Directorate General of GST Intelligence at Gurugram prior to his present posting in Chennai.

He is a Presidential Award winner for Specially Distinguished Record of Service.
